  Art Within Political Struggles. Solidary Artistic Practice at the Periphery: Tirana, Skopje features reflections by Adela Demetja, Ivana Vaseva, Rena Rädle and Valentina Bonizzi on their socially engaged artistic and curatorial practice in Albania and North Macedonia.

The book is a collective document of solidary artistic and non-artistic practice at the periphery of the European Union. The key issues that are discussed are the center-periphery relation as spatial segregation, the insider-outsider relation in the context of participatory practices, exclusion or inclusion of engaged practices by art institutions, and the use of art in political struggles. The book can also be read as a statement that artistic practice needs to position itself within political struggles, a point that the presented practices share.

This publication is partly an outcome and continuation of “Performative Exhibition #2 - Komuna e Parisit Revisited” that took place in 2019 at Tirana Art Lab.
